The Hire Aspirations Institute is a research initiative dedicated to studying fairness in hiring platforms writ large, from data and algorithms to corrective transformations and the law. Hiring has always been a crucible in which forces of preference, privilege, prejudice and the law interact to shape the future. As hiring decisions are increasingly carried out online, these forces are now being de facto codified into algorithms and data. The Hire Aspirations Institute, centered at Harvard University, aims to develop a foundational understanding of algorithmic fairness in online hiring platforms to push for a more equitable future.

 

Our inherently holistic approach towards studying fairness in hiring leverages the strength of world leaders in algorithmic fairness, privacy, AI, law, critical race theory, organizational behavior, economics, and networking.
